  1. Hi, I just bought a notebook, which is going be my main computer in the future, but I may still be using my old desktop as well. I read the following in the MacroExpress eula: Personal License: A single-user ("Personal") License may either be used by a single user who uses the Software personally on one or more computers, or installed on a single computer used by multiple people, but not both. Does this mean that I am entitled to install and use MacroExpress Pro on both computers, as long as they are not running simultaneously? And if so, can I simply install the same key on the new computer? TIA, Arthur
  2. Hi Cory, Thanks for answering. You pointed into the right direction: the problem was that the Telephony service was disabled on my computer. I enabled it and now the error doesn't occur anymore. Arthur
  3. Hi, An error was encountered while enumerating the phone book entries Error: 711 Has anyone seen this error? It appears to happen only (but always) when I use any IF-command, either picking it from the commands side bar or trying to edit an IF-command in an existing macro. The error pops up as soon as I do this. When I close the error message, the ME IF-command dialogue appears and I can work with them and write working macros. I have no idea what this phone book might be, but not anything installed in my machine. TIA, Arthur
  4. You could probably split your macro in an 'if program running" and "if not program running" section.
  5. Auto restore was not ticked in my case. I am still experiencing freezes. But I have this to add: I found some threads about freezes with the latest version (2010) of Kasperky Internet Security in the Kasperky user forum yesterday. Some users appear to have freezes very much like the ones I am seeing. I have now uninstalled 2010 and reverted to 2009 to see if this solves my problem. I need some time to corroborate things, as the freezes tend to occur only a few times a week. So, I will report back here in a week or so with the results.
  6. I seem to have a similar problem. I get frequent system freezes (three times this week alone) where nothing appears to work anymore, and the computer doesn't react to keyboard or mouse input. In most cases, the cursor still moves when I use the mouse, but it changes to an hourglass when it travels over the focused window, and to a double arrow when I move it to the taskbar. But nothing happens when I right or leftclick or use the wheel. I've also had at least one case where the mouse cursor refused to move at all. I can't check CPU or memory load, since I'm unable to bring up the task manager, but there is no noticeable increase in CPU fan activity. I have tried waiting for up to half an hour for the system to come back to life but it simply stays frozen and my only option is to shut the computer down by using the power button. No macros were active at the time of these freezes. One time it happenend when I was away from the computer and the computer was idle, although I had my applications open. With no reaction from mouse or keyboard, I can't kill MEP to see if this changes things. Startup items apart from MEP: Ad Muncher, Kaspersky Internet Explorer, Directory Opus and TaskSWitch XP (an Alt-Tab replacement), all of which I have been using for years without any problems. Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000. Applications typically active when I am working: 1 to 3 Word documents, 1 Directory Opus window, 1 to 3 Avant browser tabs, Outlook, and a few dictionaries (Random House and a few Dutch ones). I sure hope this is solved soon. I may have to revert to ME3 if it isn't. Arthur
  7. Hi Alan, Thanks, that worked. That is to say, it works for those older dictionaries. The more recent one - which had no problem with 'gain focus "activation" - isn't triggered by "Window is Opened" activation.
  8. I can confirm these problems. The situation appears to be much the same as with the initial version 4 release. Window title activation macros fail in the same way as they used to in that release. The macros are not triggered initially, but they do fire off after alt-tabbing away and back to the application. I don't have that many window title activation macros. Most are used in rather old Dutch dictionary software, the type of software that is not mousewheel-compatible (but not 16-bit). The problem doesn't arise in a more recent dictionary application that I use.
  9. Great! The problems with window activations in certain applications appear to be solved.
  10. I have some problems with version 3 window activation macros that have always worked but not in version 4. Typically, they refuse to work intitially, but the macros are triggered when I ALT-TAB to another application or the desktop and back to the triggering window. Not all window activation macros fail however. In some applications they consistently fail, in others, they consistently work.

  12. If you were usng Opera as your browser it would be very simple to do this. Opera allows you to search for text in a webpage or even for text in hyperlinks only, whithout opening a find box. To search the whole webpage you simply type a period followed by the word(s) you are looking for. To search for a hyperlink which contains your search terms you type a comma instead of the period. Opera then highlights that link. So you could use a simple text type command: <TEXTTYPE:,click here<ENTER>>
  13. In Opera, when I need a "wait for website" command, which doesn't exist for Opera, I use a combination of "Wait for Window Title" and "Wait for Not Mouse Cursor: App Start". I don't know if this will work for other browsers, but in Opera, "Wait for Not Mouse Cursor: App Start" after "Wait for (a website's) Window Title" does the trick very well. For me, at least. And I find it a lot easier than using the pixel colour commands.
