'Just a thought... Consider moving the spreadsheet over to Google Sheets instead of Excel.

The advantage is that it constantly backs up, so you don't lose data, and it's accessible when you are mobile, from any device.

It doesn't have some functionality, but has other functionalities, 'sort of a balance. I use it mostly now instead of Excel (which I have extensively used and taught and loved)

I can't see in the Help how to do this. 'Grateful if you can help.

I'm confused about getting values from a multi-element variable from a of pre-run list of values.

(I have created a variable %CB% that has a list of text values  CB 11   CB 12   CB 13 etc. )

By the way, I don't know what the 'Caption' box means in the Variable Set String dialog box.

I'd like to know what the the script code is to create a 4-iteration loop that...

- Grabs the first element value of %CB% and types that value into NotePad (which is the declared context the macro has been told to use) at the NotePad cursor position at that moment

- Then at the next iteration of the loop, grabs the next element value of %CB%, and pastes that into NotePad where the cursor currently is.

- 'Repeating the process to get and paste CB 13, etc.

What happens when you do Ctrl-Alt-Del and close all MacroExpress apps shown in the list, and then use the Start menu to load it fresh again?
I occasionally have to do that to make it work when it has become tangled up during macro building and editing.

In the list of commands at the left in the editing pane I noticed a    Variable set Decimal - Set to a Random Value

Also there, I see 'Repeat' functions, including 'Repeat until', which could be used to increase a variable to the random value.

It seems likely therefore you could set a random variable, and do a Repeat Until loop until that variable is exhausted.

My listing of the shortcuts is ordered alphabetically by the left column.

I'm wondering whether it uses whatever order you currently have in your main window listing of the macros.

I'll ask a dumb question...
Why don't you simply use Alt-Tab to see and click the window to be activated.
I would have thought that that would be even faster than invoking a macro.

In MSWord you can have multi-press shortcuts, such as Hold down Alt, then press f and then press b

Can MacroExpress do that? 

I want to be able to organize set of conveniently named keyboard shortcuts that quickly access various Facebook pages like this...

Alt-  f, a      Facebook art movies group

Alt-  f, m     Facebook materials science group

Alt-  f, c      Facebook cycling group
Alt-  y, c     YouTube channel page
Alt-  y, u     YouTube upload a movie page

I realize the option of a Shortkey but I want to launch directly from a keyboard shortcut (instead of having to type text into an app, disturbing the current activity)

This is MacroExpress 6.1.3.1 failure to execute any of my text-typing macros when I do my usual MX prefix command.

MacroExpress 4.7.1.1 had been failing in (that was why I installed the 6 version, hoping it would solve the problem)
 

WHAT HAPPENS

When the macro executes first time, I can see an attempt to type characters, but the cursor does not actually type visible characters, and quickly jumps back to the original position.
After that, execution does nothing whatsoever, unless I Ctrl-Alt-Del and End task, and then reload MacroExpress.

I've tried rebooting. It still fails.

Various text macros fail, not just one.

My spreadsheet cell-stepping macros works okay.

My version is 4.7.1.1 but I doubt it makes much difference - yours will prob be okay.

I tried it using the Quick Wizard method, and succesfully launched a sound editing program I use, called Audacity.

When asked to identify the program, I took the trouble to actually go and locate the exe file of it,  in its folder.
(You can either browse in the Windows folder or the Windows x86 folder, or instead look at the icon that launches it, right click, and see the path for it.)

I also specified a keyboard shortcut, in this case I chose Ctrl Alt Shift Backspace.

When I did that shortcut, bingo, up came Audacity.

Paste the names into Excel.

Then use the 'Capture' feature of MacroExpress to demonstrate to Excel how to do one of the names and step to the start of the next name.

Then  use the 'Edit macro' to insert features of the 'Repeat' menu such as 'Repeat start' 'Repeat Counter' and 'Repeat Until'

In the Tools menu, select Mouse Locator (it creates a little box window showing the coordinates of the mouse)
Not only does it display the coordinates, but you can POSITION the mouse at any desired point (when you are in Edit mode, see option under the Capture option)
While in the Edit mode,  look at left, see Mouse, and use the little down arrow to open up the Mouse options.
Double-click Mouse Move
Position the mouse at the desired position, then use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Space to insert that position into the command.

If you also want to copy the chunk of text, consider using the Keyboard command, which enables you to do things like Shift-End capture the characters from current position to end of text. And Ctrl-C to copy that text.

- set up a keyboard shortcut, such as Ctrl-Alt-Shift C
- at the bottom, choose which window the macro will start from
- click OK

Dunno how many members there are of this topic, but perhaps a few might like to have an online vid-conference using Google Hangouts.

If so, you have to have a Google+ Account (easy, costs nothing). Up to 9 people can participate.

But others can watch it live on YouTube (even can post questions to us live), and it can be saved if we like for future viewing, private or public.

I've been using MacroExpress for decades and totally love it.
(Rubberstamp stock texts - email address, street address, explanations - but also automating tweets from big list of quality tweets I've built using Excel)

'Resolved this year I'd use it even more.

To be global, a good teleconference time would be 1pm LA time = 4pm NY time = 9pm UK time = 10am NZ time
