A way to open an existing file that works for me is to use "Explorer: Open Folder" and (in the Open Folder dialog box, Options tab, File Name/Path: field) click the box containing three dots and navigate to the folder containing that file (to cause the macro to open the folder that contains the file). THEN, at the end of its file path (which will appear in the File Name/Path: field), type a backslash and the full name of the file, including its extension (such as .docx for a modern Word document). The macro should then open that file whenever you trigger it.
