  1. I use MS Paint applet to create a little billboard with my half dozen or so shortcuts added as text and put that on the desktop as a bitmap. This may not be useful to you, but it's what I use. Changing the billboard is easy to do. My example is attached.
  2. Ok, thanks for the comment. I'll remember that. Since I've got my macros backed up and exported, I'm covered anyway. -mg
  3. Success. Fixed it myself. I found the macro in the Samples menu and simply disabled it. I noticed the little "Runing Macro Man" in the Taskbar, and that told me it was a macro running. Have a nice weekend...
  4. I have sent you a screen capture of the pop-up. Hope this clarifies my question. Thanks! -mike goodrich colorado springs, colorado
  5. I've looked around in the help files, and done a search on this forum....The Menu of Sample Macros pops up whenever I start Macro Express, and whenever the computer boots up. This seems to be a new problem...and I can't seem to get rid of that dialog. Any tips? Thanks.
  6. I just installed IE7 beta and preliminary tests show that I can still run my usual macros with it. I had to make a couple of timing changes for my Yahoo logon, but other than that, it works. Just thought other users might like to know.... P.S. IE7 does not play well with Yahoo's mail beta, so I had to revert to the older Yahoo version. -mike goodrich Colorado Springs, Co
  7. I guess I should have stated the Firefox ver in the text as well as the subject field. It's the new verson; 1.5. I'm running XP SP2. Any mouse action over any test item in the Firefox page causes the mouse hook problem. No real big deal. I'm using IE with no probs. Thanks!
  8. I know...you don't support Firefox...but I just want to compare notes. When I try and move the mouse over Firefox buttons while recording a macro I get a "invalid mouse hook" message and I must reboot to clear it. Of course, I do not have this problem when recording a macro with IE. Am I the only one with this sort of error message? By the way, thanks to your good help forum I learned how to grab files (not just folders) in a macro and that makes the macro less messy, for sure. Thanks for the good help area!
  9. Yep...I'm making some progress with this one stubborn macro. It's all in the timing as you mentioned. The macro works reasonably well now after a fresh bootup and quite well after the computer has been doing other things for a little while. Some strategic pauses and delays here and there is getting me where I want to be with this macro. I'll make sure the Ignore Macro Speed Factor box is checked. By the way...the help files for this program are really nicely set up. So easy to click right to the help area from the various dialogs and other places. Good! Thanks!
  10. Many thanks for the reply. I slowed the macro down to 50 times faster than normal vs 100 times. That isn't the problem area, however. The first part of the macro is used to call up a file...and by slowing that segment down...I've been able to get it to behave a little better. The real problem seems to be...how my computer runs the macro too slowly just after boot up. I guess I just need to do more detective work on it. This slower version of the first segment of the macro seems to work ok just after bootup. So...some progress has been made. <LOGERR:N><LOGFILE:YY:><IFOTH:10:1:H:\><IFMESS3:00000:1:2:Notice...Drive H is not mounted!Center:Center><ENDIF><MSTOP><ENDIF><EXPLORE:H:\><DELAY:1><TEXTTYPE:<TAB>><DELAY:1><WFREADY:000010:000000:000001H:\-notes & rants starting Oct 28 2005.rtf><DELAY:1><SPKEY:0500><TEXTTYPE:<SPACE>><SPKEY:0500><MSD:600><DELAY:1><SPKEY:0060><TEXTTYPE:-notes><SPKEY:0600><DELAY:4><TEXTTYPE:<ENTER>>
  11. Greetings: I'm a new user...so not very experienced. I've created three or four macros that work fine. One of them, however, only works correctly after the computer has run for a little while. (for example when I have been in and out of XP's Windows Explorer) If I try to run the macro just after a fresh bootup then there are some incorrect pages pulled up. Here is the macro I'm sure it looks pretty "messy" to your experienced users!: <IFOTH:10:1:H:\><IFMESS3:00000:1:2:Notice...Drive H is not 12. I had to go look for some sort of macro program because I wanted to reduce mouse actions (to prevent carpal tunnel) and because I just wanted to automate some of my routine tasks. My learning curve has been a bit steep so far...but progress is being made. Tried several other macro programs...they always came up short. Why I bought: -clearly written help pages and tutorial -interesting and helpful forum -friendly attitude from users and forum staff My first macros worked...but they were pretty crude. Now...I'm getting more macro-efficient and more pleased with my results. Thanks for a good product and good support. mike goodrich Colorado Springs, co.
