  1. No, it doesn't address the issue at all. Scenario: I boot up with three monitors. I run the macro, it says 3. I disconnect one monitor. I run the macro. It STILL says 3. I restart Macro Express. I run the macro. Now it says 2.
  2. In our "brave new world" of mobility, I'm finding more and more that the number of monitors in use can change on-the-fly. For example, a user with two monitors unplugs their laptop to go to a meeting. Now instead of two monitors, they have one. (There are MANY other scenarios as well). MEP has the ability to count the monitors, so I can have the macro perform differently in different scenarios. Unfortunately, this "count" only seems to occur when MEP is started. So if the number of monitors changes, the macros can have unexpected results. What I'd like to find is a way - other than restarting Macro Express - to have MEP re-count the current number of monitors. I've been unable to find any method to re-count them other than using the "Restart Macro Express". Unfortunately, doing that results in a number of other issues, as MEP does a lot of other stuff on start-up. Is there such a method? If not, I think it'd make a great Feature Request! Thanks in advance for any help. Note that because this issue involves multiple users, many of whom are not experts at this, any "solution" that's "complex" may not be feasible. So please don't waste your time trying to help with that sort of thing. My users are business folks, not programmers or techs. 🙂
  3. Here's the scoop. I have a program which after it's done with it's job, will pop up a child window to tell me it's done. Unfortunately, I often have lots of programs running while I'm focused elsewhere, so I want to add an audible sound to attract my attention when this window pops up. However, I need it to make the sound periodically, because I'm often away from the desk, and if it only rings once, I'll miss it as often as not. The method I've employed in the past is that I have a macro that fires off every 30 seconds, and checks for specific window titles, and if they exist, it fires off the sound. So here's the problem... The durn thing keeps thinking the PARENT window is the CHILD window. Specifically, when the program's done, it pops up a child with the title "Information". However, any time the program is running, it seems to think that there's an "Information" window. There isn't. It's wierd. I've set it for an exact match, and I've scrutinized all other open windows - none of them have the word "Information" in them anywhere. So why does ME keep sounding off when "Information" isn't even there? Or are there secret windows hidden away that I don't know about, and one of them is called "information"? I need to check the size of this child window to confirm it's the one I'm waiting for. If it's not, I don't want the alert to sound. So if there was a way to get the window size WITHOUT activating it, that'd be an OK workaround. The problem is that if I'm doing something else, this thing fires off and, thinking it's the "information" window, brings the main window foreward to get the size for the check. And of course, the active button is the "Cancel" button. Which means if I'm typing when it happens, and I hit SPACE or ENTER, I've just cancelled the job that was running in the background. VERY annoying! So either a fix for the "wrong window" identification, or a method for checking window size without pulling it to the front would fix the problem. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks. - AzDayton - 06/21/2012 12:45:38
  4. First, this forum window erases all text if you hit ESC... What's up with that? But for my question... I have some macros that need to be used by multiple users. Each has their Internet Explorer customized for their use. Some have the Menu turned on, some have more toolbars than others, some have the Favorites shared with the Tab bar, etc. The upshot of this is that I can't ever count on the items displayed on a web page to be in exactly the same position when pulled up by different users. It can vary by as much as an inch. Unfortunately, the custom apps we use don't have keyboard methods for accessing the controls, so I have to be able to do with with mouse clicks. Does anyone have a reliable method for finding the coordinates for the top-left corner of the Internet Explorer "workspace"? That is, the portion that things load in, excluding toolbars, menu bars, favorite bars, etc? If I can get the mouse to the top-left of that, I can move from there to to the controls on the page that need to be used. Thanks in advance for any help! - Dayton - Mon. 12/06/2010 @ 11:11:02
  5. Greetings all you smarter-than-I folks! I've been using M.E. for years now, and have grown very dependant on it. So much so, that I talk every new employer into purchasing several copies (for me and any other tech-savvy people in the group). Such is the case on my latest gig, where I've spent 6 months and have convinced them to buy. Unfortunately, just before it was finalized, they upgraded our PC's from Win2000 to WinXPPro, and now M.E. has "issues" which make it much less effective. So I was hoping I could find some help here in resolving them, so that the purchase can go through and I can get back my M.E! Here are the symptoms that I've discovered so far: 1. Text Box Display always shows the text box size as 0x0. You can enter whatever values you like, it will still always show 0x0 when you go it to edit it. 2. Variable Set Integer with Random Number always returns a 1. There are no errors reported on the installation process. The PC is on a domain which I am not an administrator on. I AM an administrator on the PC itself (Local Group). A domain administrator came to look at it, and when he's logged on, it seems to function perfectly. That's all the info I can think of at this point. If anything else turns up, I'll add it later. Thank you in advance for any help you can give! - Dayton - Tue. 09/12/2006 @ 15:10:44
