mbrogdon
Is anyone successfully using clientless Outlook 365 email setup to send email using ME?
Cory
I use the MEP email commands with my Office 365 account.
mbrogdon
Great. Any tips you can share? Are you using smtp.office365.com as the server and port 587? With the various settings I've tried I either receive authentication errors or server connection errors. Thank you for any help you can offer. acantor
Are you asking how to configure Macro Express Pro in these Preferences screens?
Cory
Yes. Also SSL set to auto. Like many things I think they actually use TLS whenever SSL is mentioned. Checked the "requires authentication". Other than that, I can think of any tips. I just use it. I do use my text message email gateways also. For instance Verizon is [number]@vtext
mbrogdon
When using those settings, I receive the following error: The information I enter is correct. The email account I'm using has all email apps set to allowed. IN MEP, I'm using: smtp.office365.com Port: 587 SSL: Auto SMTP server requires authentication. Did you have to set up anything special in Outlook/Exchange Admin? A connector or anything else?
Cory
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/mail-flow-best-practices/how-to-set-up-a-multifunction-device-or-application-to-send-email-using-microsoft-365-or-office-365 An authentication indicates there's something wrong with the username or password. If it were an encryption setting mistake, you would receive this error. Email connection failed: Error with user authentication; 500 no supported authentication marshal found! Try logging into office in a incognito window and verify your username (email address) and password is correct. Aside: I tried all encryption methods and all worked except "None". If you have unicode characters in your address/username or password that could be the problem as MEP doesn't support unicode. You might have security software on your computer that is blocking it. EG firewall. Your network or gateway might be blocking traffic outbound on port 25 or 587 to prevent spam bots. But given that error, I don't think these are the case as you are connecting, else you wouldn't get the auth error. I can't think of any other cause, but I'll keep thinking. Wrong username or password seems the most likely.
Cory
Sorry. I meant to add a note to that first link. All you need to do is enter those settings in normal circumstances. If you're using an account other than your own, you need to have Send-As permissions for that account. but again the error would be different "5.7.60 SMTP; Client does not have permissions to send as this sender." There are Office 364 limits as to how many you can send daily also, but again, I think the error would be different. You might try testing those settings in another app or a script like VBScript. mbrogdon
Thanks for your help with this. Unfortunately, I'm still not having any luck. Also tried to add a connector, but Exchange Admin Center will not allow me to add it.
Cory
You're welcome. There are other services out there as well. I've used a few. I remember using a free one called SendPulse mostly. I don't remember for certain, but I think it was free up to a point. If you're trying to send batch mailers, many of the services like MailChimp or Constant Contact are free up to a limit. I recall the limit being generous. Also there are many ways to automate Outlook to do batch mailers with Mail Merge. BUt I don't know what it is you're trying to do so that might not apply. And you can do a script. I mentioned if before but I failed to mention that you can execute external scripts in MEP.
mbrogdon
I'm just trying to send out alerts when a macro finds a problem, a missing file, has an error, etc. Used to be so simple.
Cory
It is easy in MEP for most. I suspect this is an environmental problem. Admin limitations for security perhaps. It's only a workaround, but you could use another mail account like Google.
