TsunamiZ
Is there a way to change the default macro hotkeys [in the *Unassinged* folder]? In case they conflict with hotkeys for certain programs. Thanks.
joe
Right click on any one of the built-in system macros. An Activation window will pop up. Set your new hotkeys from there.
TsunamiZ
Thanks. Also, is there a way to change the scope of one of these macros so that it won't work when a specific program is in focus [to prevent program hotkey conflicts]? joe
No. But isn't that why you wanted to change the hotkey?

kevin
You cannot set the scope for the System macros. You can, however, change the hotkey assigned to them although we do not recommend it.
TsunamiZ
If users can change the scope, then that would allow users to eliminate the hassle of changing the hotkey. Can Macro Express have that option in a future release?
jason
The scope of the system macros cannot be changed as they are required to run functions in Macro Express. If necessary, the macro activation can be changed as both Kevin and Joe have stated.
TsunamiZ
Can they be temporarily disabled if the hotkeys conflict with those of another program?
floyd
They cannot be disabled. If they could be disabled they would be rather useless.
TsunamiZ
So if a program happens to use ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+W as a hotkey, what can the user do about it instead of having to change the hotkey temporarily in Macro Express and then changing it back [to avoid conflicts]? floyd
Nothing except change your hotkey (your original solution) in either the app or Macro Express.
TsunamiZ
Perhaps Macro Express should be updated to allow more flexibility with these issues. I don't want to have to shutdown Macro Express as a quick alternative to changing hotkeys back and forth...
floyd
Perhaps, but tell us, what programs are they interfering with?
TsunamiZ
I havn't had any yet, but I do use a lot of professional graphics programs which use a lot of complex hotkeys. So I want to be prepared and know what to do if a conflict occurs...
jason
Your only option short of shutting down the program or changing the hotkey, is to suspend Macro Express. This can be done by right clicking on the System Tray icon and selecting Suspend Macro Express. To start Macro Express back up, right click on the system tray icon and select Resume Macro Express. The hotkey for this action is Cntrl+Alt+Shift+U
TsunamiZ
Thanks for the tip. It would still be nice if Macro Express can be smart enough to suspend itself if a certain program is in focus [i.e. scope exclude].
