When you are looking at the list of topics in a forum, there is a link at the bottom of the page near the center. that says Mark this forum as read. This is so you do not have to read through all of the messages. Also, please note at the top of the page (towards the right) the link that says View New Posts. Experiment a little with these links. And finally, you can set your controls to email you whenever somebody posts a new topic to the forum and/or posts a message to a topic of interest.
