  1. Joe,

    changed to zip as requested, but the download doesn't seem to work correctly,

    so I added a link to the zip-files of my website.

    XP evidently doesn't like ME work within the Windows file explorer.

    Unfortunately I didn't find, where I can switchoff this stupid reaction of Windows.

    But I found out, that it is possible to store an individual path into variable T1 at the beginning of my makro and simply use this variable for launching

    <LAUNCHDEL2:0:01%T1%>

    http://www.Mediocom1.de/zip/CtrlAlt+Space-...ut-Aufnahme.zip

    CtrlAlt_Space_RadioPlaylists_MP3Directcut_Aufnahme.zip

  2. No matter in which window you are when you like to start a call,

    <LAUNCHYES3:0:0112Contacts<LAUNCH:C:\Programme\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE<PARAM>/c ipm.contacts><WAITWIN2:000010:000000:contacts>

    should open your contacts to choose whom you want to call.

    Having finished your call, it isn't difficult to make your macro enter an appointment starting at the time when you started your call and showing duration, name and telno.

  3. I use a Macro that allows to record MP3 streams from a station called Swissjazz:

    MP3-Recording

    Several programs are started and windows are opened. Among these is a MS Windows file explorer showing al songs already recorded. As the default setting of my file explorer has the directories on the left and the window with the content only on the right, my Macroexpress macro opens "views" and unmarks "directories" for the File Explorer named "D:\Irate".

    Unfortunately very often I am getting such a message for closing my file explorer because of security reasons (inspite of the fact that Explorer.exe is listed as exception in my XP Firewall:

    Explorer-Closed-Security.gif

    Any idea what could be wrong ?

    http://www.mediocom1.de/zip/CtrlAlt+Space-...P3Directcut.zip

    CtrlAlt_Space_RadioPlaylists_MP3Directcut.zip

  4. I generally start every macro by saving the actual clipboard contents to T99 with

    <TVAR2:99:03:>

    and at the end of every maco, I restore T99 to my clipboard with

    <TMVAR2:16:99:00:000:000:>

    This allows me to paste the clipboard content somewhere at the end of a macro.

    ----------------

    In Preferences -Playback I have selected "Pause" as Abort Macro Hotkey.

    Unfortunately such system keys cannot be modified.

    Otherwise I would like to add

    <TMVAR2:16:99:00:000:000:>

    to this Abort Macro Hotkey command.

    Any solution ?

    Or is this a feature for future MacroExpress updates !

  5. Exactly ! Thank you very much !

    If the entire directory with "\" backslash in the title is displayed, then my old activion command: <ACTIVATE2:\> works and any open Explorer will be activated, regardless of it's name.

    Provided, the NAME of a song title is allways on the left, and the DATE is allways on the right margin in an Explorer window, I slightly changed my macro to find the latest, newest file with WINALT+L (for Last) - regardless of the size of the Explorer window:

    <SPEED:00001><REM2:

  6. I am often recording MP3s from internet radio stations.

    To make sure, I haven't already recorded a certain song, I

    open with Windows Explorer the directory of all my MP3 songs,

    doubleclick on "Name" (to sort after name) and enter the first

    letters of a songtitle to see, if it is already in my files.

    iRaTe-ContinueJazzradio.gif

    To do this with a macro, I open the playlist of my internet radio

    station, mark the songtitle coming next and start my macro with

    WinAlt+Y

    My Question:

    How could I change my "Activate" command, so that always the only -but not active- Explorer window

    running, is beeing activated, regardless if I use the classic or the colorful WINDOWS XP design ?[

  7. Would you like such a Footer in your WORD document ?

    Document1 XX.XX.XXXX / BF Page 1 of 1

    adjusting automatically, if you save your document under a different name e.g. to

    D:\Word\Private Letters\IBM-Dr.Smith-ME-Macro Alt+8.doc 25.Mar.2005 / BF Page 1 of 1

    So after you print the document you will always see in the footer of the first page, wher the document has been saved !!!!!

    ----------

    The Macro uses English ALT-commands if directory c:\Program files is existing and allows to choose the font size with a left mousclick on font size 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 and returns to the document text.

    It can easily be changed from German to other languages, by using search&replace, but will always run also with an English version of Word.

    Bilingual macro ENGLISH & GERMAN, so everybody not using an English version of Word will be able to adopt the macro for his national Word version.

  8. during our discussion about how to find, select a name and copy&paste the eMail-address

    at the cursor position when the macro Alt+F10 is started, we found that several "Wait for" commands

    can be combined with <OR>, so that the user may choose either to use the left, right or middle mouseclick or - in case he has to enter something into his keyboard during the macro and his fingers are already on the keyboard - just use RETURN/ENTER instead of the mouse to let the macro continue.

    Wheras I prefer a macro nickname to tell the user, what key/mouseclick he has to use on multiple choices during the macro:

    Alt+F10 OE E-Mailadress find&paste+RM/ENTER

    saying

    hotkey=Alt+F10

    program=OE

    task=E-Mailadress find&paste

    Key to continue=RM/ENTER

    Randall prefers to use a Textbox command, telling the user what to do next.

    As the "keep focus" in textbox is not reliable, he uses the GETCONTROL command and SETFOCUS after the box appears. I added a MMC to have the mouse also at the cursor position.

    <GETCONTROL2P:01:WAB.EXE:WABBrowseViewAdressbook001:9Edit><MSD:80><TBOX4:T:3:000647000007000313000128:000:Name ?Select name with RM=right mouseclick or

    I do not have any experience with GetControl yet, but it seems to work also.

    It was always my aim to have a clear documentation, other programmers would understand. Therefore my REM's are mostly bilingual. Moreover I prefer Arrow ups/downs instead of using Alt+[Character] which I will have to translate. The search and replace of Window names unfortunately cannot be avoided.

    I always use T99 for saving the clipboard on macro start, so no one will get mixed up with "normal" variables.

    Best regards and thanks for your efforts.

  12. Just for Outlook Express fans:

    My downloadable 160 macros collection contains 2 macros, which I use very often with Outlook Express:

    Alt+F10 opens your Outlook Express Addressbook.wab and lets you enter 3-4 letters to find a specific E-Mail address. As soon as you use a mouse rightclick, this address will be automatically entered at your cursor position in every windows program.

    Alt+Q new Email with OE

    allows to choose an E-Mail address either by

    marking the most important E-Mail recipients sorted to the beginning, by adding an asterix before the name shown on the first 2 pages of the recipients direktory, e.g.

    "*Bernd Frisch "

    or just enter 3-4 of the first letters.

    The macro copies the E-Mail address into "TO"range,

    opens a new message with my favorite template,

    enters the contents of the field "Other" as standard subject

    enters date & time after the city (as usually in a normal letter)

    and formates an individual "greeting" according to the content of field "Title" in OE.

    Hello in "Title" & "Professore" in field nickname will print:

    Alzey, Germany - Feb. 28, 2005

    Hello Professore !

  13. @robdotcalm

    I see no need for a file export:

    1. sorted by Hotkeys

    Everytime I doubleclick the "M" in the Systray, I will see my macros this way sorted by Hotkeys. Sort after Scope makes no sense to me, as the same hotkey can be used for different programs/window names to start different macros. Sometimes I use the same hotkey to do the same thing in different programs (Outlook/Lotus Organizer).

    2. Properties "Program/Section" behind hotkey

    helps to indicate for which part of which program the macro is used:

    Ctrl+F LO AD mark. Address->Word Fax1 copies a marked address in Lotus Organizer addressbook into my Word fax template "FAX1"

    Ctrl+F OL AD mark. Address->Word Fax1 does exactly the same for Outlook contacts.

    3. Sort Number in properties

    Earlier I used an extra number for sorting, but I deleted it as sorting after hotkeys seemed sufficient.

    4. "Print" key

    copies picture to Clipboard & Ctrl+V pasts it into Word for printing

    (even small enough to be attached right of my notebook touchscreen)

  14. Sorry, but I just wanted to show how you can change your configuration to see & print a large number of macros.

    In fact, most of my macros make it easier to use the PIMs

    Lotus Organizer and

    Microsoft Outlook

    The macros include the description of all variables used and have a good documentation with <REM - Remarks, so that even if someone doesn't speak a word German will understand what the macro is doing, even the ALT+[letter] commands in German program versions are different from the relative commands necessary in English.

    Unfortunately, I don't have an English version of Windows XP.

    If I had XP English, I could translate all my macros, so that they can be used in English programs.

  15. You havn't provided any information about the LAN you are using.

    I can only report that once I installed a program using a Program.exe file on physically in a directory of another computer in the LAN and hoped, as most other programs it would be installed in c:\programs of my local PC, but it wasn't. If this happens, everytime you use the program, it will be started on the other computer, not your local PC. In this case your macro can have an effect on your local Zonealarm.

    So you better deinstall Macroexpress and after cleaning your registry Reinstall it with a downloaded programversion stored in a local directory on your local PC.

  16. I have used Zonealarm for many years. Free version and Pro version, but I never had an entry of MacroExpress in Zonealarm or a message in Zonealarm coming from Macroexpress. I could only imagine that you are activating Macroexpress on another PC in the LAN. If so, Zonealarm would ask you to allow Macroexpress to access the local LAN, which should be granted. So you simply have to Security-Advanced-Local Zone and add the necessary entries for your LAN subnet and the IP range following the online help of Zonealarm.

  17. Another way for opening Templates as documents

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    A long time ago I used Wordmacros too, but as BillyBoy always changes something wit a new Word version, I switched to MacroExpress.

    As an example for silly Mickeysoft changes:

    In the Word version of Office 2000 we used the Button "File" and the first command in the menu was "New" - or if I translate correctly "FileNewDialog".

    In the window opening with "New" you could select the Template, which normally opens as *.doc and not as "dot".

    Unfortunately since Word 2002 a stupid window opens on the right handside and if you push the "File" button, you won't see that "New" command. Therefore you have to seek for "FileNewDialog" under Extras-Modify-Commands-All commands-

    http://www.mediocom1.de/images/Word2002DokVorlagen.gif Word in German:Search in Window "Modify" for command "FileNewDialogue"

    Word2002DokVorlagen.gif

    Then with drag&drop move (a copy) of the "FileNewdialog" into your command "File" menu and place it there as first command.

    Then with MacroExpress

    Program Launch: "Winword.exe"

    Text Type: <ALT>F

    Delay 10 Milliseconds

    Text Type: <ENTER>

    you could load Word, push Alt+F(file) and O(ther in German it's "Andere") or better just Enter (as I'm not sure what command name will appear in English).

    With a wait for LM(or RM) Mouseklick you can even make your own choice before the macro continues.

  18. Very often the Macro stops at RM command (wait for Right Mouse Click) as it has to, but doesn't continue if I perform a RM.

    If Window Title "Internet Explorer" is on top

      Repeat Start (Repeat 2 times)

        Delay 60 Milliseconds

        Text Type: <ARROW DOWN>

      Repeat End

    End If

    Delay 60 Milliseconds

    Text Type: <ENTER>

    Delay 60 Milliseconds

    Text Type: D:\Mediocom1\TVRadioprogramm\*.jpg

    Delay 60 Milliseconds

    Text Type: <ENTER>

    Delay 60 Milliseconds

    Wait Right Mouse Click

    Delay 60 Milliseconds

    Text Type: <ESC>

    Any idea why ?

  19. Assume I want to choose one of the files I see in a Windows Explorer in the middle of a macro.

    I just enter the command "Wait for a right Mouseclick"

    If I start this macro, it will open the Windows Explorer and wait

    till I have marked the file I have selected and as soon as I click

    with my right mouse, the macro will continue and automatically

    load the file I selected.

    That's the way I prefer to create a Multiple Choice.

    Just mark & rightclick, that's all.

    I have often tried also to show a floating textbox explaining:

    "Please take your choice and continue with a right Mouseclick"

    but, unfortunately, the mark on "Keep Focus" doesn't work

    reliably. Kevin should keep an eye on this bug !

    With this simple way of multiple choice, the only problem is to get

    a good list of the choices.

    In fact you could use the macro express

    command "Create a multiple choice Menu" (from Dialogs)

    just to show the list of choices and, instead of let people place a mark

    and push OK, you should be able to continue and wait for the right

    mouseclick, but I am afraid this doesn't work.

  20. If there is a Lotus Organizer User the following might be of interest for him:

    LO AD = Lotus Organizer Adressbook allows to find a contact by typing the first 3-4 characters into your keyboard. You can

    1. start an automatic call and

    2. enter a new "appointment" into your calender with start time and duration of your call and all important data gathered from your contact recors.

    One of the coolest macro I wrote with Macro Express = Alt+^ and starts automatic dialing. At the end of your phone call, you have the choice to create a new calender entry with the data from your addressbook and the exact duration time of your call like this:

    T> 100-999 SCC-N Weissmann, Norbert Report2004 +43 (671) 123456

    (as Duration 13 Minutes)

    T> = Telefone call outgoing

    100 = company SCC

    999 = Project No

    SCC-N = Company name shortcut and personal abbrev.

    Weissmann =Last

    Norbert = First

    Report2004 = subject

    Telephone number called.

    Macro Alt+^ is one of over 160 macros which can be downloaded free as Macex.zip from my website:

    http://www.mediocom1.de/downld.html

    Unfortunately I don't have all English program versions to translate them to English, but I am sure English native speakers will easily translate them as they are full of English explanations (REM) within the macros.

    At the end of each month my client gets an EXCEL REPORT attached to my invoice for consulting working hours and all telephone calls & other costs.

    Best regards
