It would be A LOT easier to have to change one setting in Macro Express, than to have to modify each macro individually. Since it's already in Keyboard Express, how soon might it be added to Macro Express?

For most other programs' preferences, they're saved in the programs' install directories so you can just copy and paste those files to a safe backup. But the way to get to Macro Express custom files seems inconvenient by comparison.

I havn't had any yet, but I do use a lot of professional graphics programs which use a lot of complex hotkeys. So I want to be prepared and know what to do if a conflict occurs...

But if Macro Express look-alikes are doing something better, then Macro Express should learn from it and improve it in their own software. Having the scope assigned at the category level certainly makes a lot of sense to reduce the amount of repetitive work in creating macros in Macro Express.

Can we change our preference of where macro and settings files are stored on our hard drive?

Perhaps Macro Express should be updated to allow more flexibility with these issues. I don't want to have to shutdown Macro Express as a quick alternative to changing hotkeys back and forth...

Macro Express has problem displaying WinXP shell32.dll icons properly [black edges]. But it seems to display some other icons without problem. I'm using 32-bit color. C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll

Also, how can I limit this macro to play only on the taskbar? Thanks.

OK. After mouse move and click, is there a macro that can return the mouse BACK to the position it was when the hotkey was performed? Also, how about moving it back to where it SHOULD be relative to how much the mouse has moved from the hotkeyed position?

I've been trying out Macro ToolsWorks 6.30 [ www.pitrinec.com ] and you CAN assign the scope at the category level with that program, which is a lot more convenient than what is possible in Macro Express 3. And that program has virtually the same capabilities as Macro Express. Macro ToolsWorks 6.30 also allows customizing icons for categories. BTW: Can't we make feature requests in the forum? So more people can read about it.

So if a program happens to use ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+W as a hotkey, what can the user do about it instead of having to change the hotkey temporarily in Macro Express and then changing it back [to avoid conflicts]?

If I want to copy the macro file myself, is it: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\macex.mex ? I would be best to retain macro categories when backing up macros...

If I export macros, does it save the categories I organized them in, as well? I prefer to simply copy and paste the settings from their program locations if possible. It's much quicker than having to go through steps in the GUI just to backup those settings.

Can they be temporarily disabled if the hotkeys conflict with those of another program?
