cyberchief
I am trying to create a Macro that will copy some cells including Recipient name and company name from an Excel file. The Recipient name will be in the form of an email address. I need the Macro to send an email to that Recipient email address. I have tried setting that email address to %T1%, then in the "send email" properties, in the to field, I have put %T1%. I exit that, reopen and the %T1% disappears. Is there a way to have the email sent to that variable recipient?
jason
There have been some changes in this area. If you are running the latest version of Macro Express, you should be able to do this as you described. The latest version can be downloaded from: http://www.macros.com/download.htm
cyberchief
I am running the latest version (3.5e). But it is not allowing me to do this. Whenever I click OK, the %T1% disappears from the "TO" Feild.
jason
Try testing it with an e-mail. It should still work even though it does not remain.
cyberchief
I have. I get an error "501 5.5.4 Invalid Address".
jason
It's possible that when you are copying the information from Excel, that you are getting extra data that is not visible to you. If this is the case, the e-mail address most likely contains hidden characters. To remove these characters, try using the Trim option in the Variable Modify String command. cyberchief
That may have solved the problem... I should have known (always have been good about trimming and removing any carriage returns). Now, getting another error that I think is internal... (server authentication error). Working on getting info from the exchange team. THanks much!
David Moen
Can you fix the disapearing variable in the next version? I use this feature all the time. I have to add a remark to the macro so that I can remember what variable I had used as the email address.
jason
This has been fixed, and will be available in a later build.
