  1. I tried something else(a macro that worked) and now all of a sudden the icon in the tray is gone. However, it is available in the minimized tray at the bottom and also is in the task manager under "macexp.exe". I don't understand.. -P
  2. I use "Get Control" to pull some information in a database field. Sometimes it works and sometimes it gives me an error that the control does not exist. Why the inconsistency? -P
  3. No takers I guess. Can I be pointed in the right direction to another program if this one cannot help? Thanks, -P
  4. Jason, I tried your suggestion and it worked for a little, but then it went back to not being able to trigger an action in the software program. I am using the keyboard to trigger this and NOT text type in Macro Express as you alluded to in the Control Up and Control Down text type functions. I wonder if it's this: I wanted to have Macro Express pick up when a Windows Title appears to do some other action. For some reason, it gives the error that the macro did not do what it was supposed to do. (that was maybe my fault because I haven't finished the macro yet). I click to close the error message and abort the macro and then I can no longer use the program's hotkey to do anything. I also notice that the tray icon no longer is visible. Now I have to restart the computer to get the tray icon to come back. What???????????? Pat
  5. While I was experimenting with my macro code, it got to a point that the Hotkey(Alt+W) would not work anymore on the program I was working on. The only remedy I had was to restart my computer. This happened twice tonight with the same Macro I was developing. Of course, I was going through some trial and error with my macro trying to get it right and then the Hotkey stopped working altogether for the program itself. How do I restore the hotkey for my program? I am sure it started with Macro Express and somehow froze the program's ability to call up it's own hotkey. Pat
  6. Thanks Jason, I thought there might be, but alas I think not. List boxes sometimes need a double click of the chosen item to trigger something else. Just thought you might like to know for future version. I am sure this might be the simplest thing to include? When's the next version coming? Pat
  7. Thanks Stan!!!! Here is what is happening. I have a program named ACT! 8.0. Within the program, I can hit ALT+W to get a list of contacts to "paste" to an unnamed Excel file. I do check clipboard to see if it did paste, but it looks like there is some other special "paste" command happening that ACT! has internally. I look at the clipboard while the info is being copied through the clipboard and it looks like there's a tiny corner on the top left that "flickers" a small spot. This a lot of info being passed through this one spot in the clipboard. I've tried to "catch it" as it passes through, but no luck. So what I want to do is see if I could copy/paste a hidden un-named Excel file into a text file while it's un-named and hidden. Also, how can one rename an Excel file when looking at the Windows "task manager"? All I see is "Excel.exe" as the program running. What if there is more than one "Excel.exe"? So 3 questions arise. How do I know which one to terminate? How do I know which one to save? How do I know which one to copy? Really, it's finding out where that file is in the "Hidden programs". I do not want to see the excel file "flash" for even a second and make it appear as seamless as possible. Thanks! Pat
  8. Hello again! I was wondering if anyone knew how to retrieve information from a hidden application? In my macro, information is pasted to an Excel spreadsheet and once THAT instance of Excel opens, I command Macro Express to make that instance hidden. Right before Excel is hidden, the information gets pasted into Excel. While it's hidden, I would like to get that info and create a tab separated text file and kill the Excel process. I see that this can be done as a macro IN Excel, but I want to do this in Macro Express. Anyone have an idea? I've got everything up until Excel is hidden and just want an idea of how to grab the info while it's hidden. While were at it, if I wanted to rename the file and close it, how can THAT be done also? Thanks! Pat
  9. I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem. About 30-50% of the time, the Macro Express Icon is not in the tray. My preferences are set properly. Anyone know why this is? Pat
  10. In the properties tab, I am using the "mouse click" settings, then the left button to activate and an "what to click on" area on the screen. The only problem I have is that I want this control to activation on the certain area on the screen ONLY IF it is a Double left click and not a single. Does anyone know the actual answer or a workaround? Pat
  11. I found the little bugger. I needed to use "wait for control to gain focus" under the timing command. If anyone needs any help with this, let me know! Pat
  12. I know how to "Capture a Control" and "Set Focus to a Control". I do believe this is the procedure to identify an "OK" button before it is clicked. Yet, I want to capture some text on a form when I "manually" click the "OK" button. The question is: How do I capture other text (already set a control and capturing it as text) the moment I click "OK" and before the form disappears? Thank You! Pat
  13. Hello all! This might be a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway. I want to use "variable set string- prompt for value" for a program I have and while I am typing information into the input box simultaneously type the information into a field also. Is there a way for the text typing in the input box to do this in another field? Thanks! Pat
  14. Hello All! I was able to find a way to isolate tab separated columns using text file process. Cory, I took some of your ideas too! i used a text file instead of the clipboard even though it could be modified to work that way. <ASCIIC:2:1:9><IVAR2:05:01:0><BTFBEG:001:000001:000001:C:\Documents and Settings\Pat\Desktop\Contact Files\Contact.txt><TMVAR2:09:10:01:000:000:><REP3:08:000008:000001:0001:1:01:T2><NMVAR:08:05:0:0000001:0:0000000><IFVAR2:4:10:8:T2T><BREAK><ENDIF><IVAR2:01:13:10:%T2%><TMVAR2:10:11:10:001:N01:><IVAR2:02:12:11><IVAR2:03:13:11:%T2%><TMVAR2:11:11:00:N02:N03:><TMVAR2:11:10:00:001:N01:><IFVAR2:1:11:1:ID/Status><NMVAR:07:05:0:0000006:0:0000000><TMVAR2:09:12:11:000:000:><ENDIF><ENDREP><BTFEND><IVAR2:07:01:0><BTFBEG:004:000002:000001:C:\Documents and Settings\Pat\Desktop\Contact Files\Contact.txt><TMVAR2:09:05:04:000:000:><REP3:08:000008:000001:0005:1:01:T2><NMVAR:08:07:0:0000001:0:0000000><IFVAR2:4:05:8:T2T><BREAK><ENDIF><IVAR2:10:13:5:%T2%><TMVAR2:10:06:05:001:N10:><IVAR2:08:12:6><IVAR2:09:13:6:%T2%><TMVAR2:11:06:00:N08:N09:><TMVAR2:11:05:00:001:N10:><IFVAR2:5:06:1:N7T><DIS:<NMVAR:07:05:0:0000006:0:0000000><TMVAR2:09:07:06:000:000:><ENDIF><ENDREP><BTFEND> -P
  15. For VBscript, it should go like this: Set objShell = CreateObject("Wscript.Shell") objShell.Run "AutoFillFields.mxe" AutoFillFields.mxe is the "playable" macro I call from the desktop. For VBA, ???? Pat
  16. Cory, Thanks, but can you build off of this one? I am starting to "get it" and I don't want you to go out of your way to make another one. You have more important things to do. -P
  17. Spent almost all night trying to get it, but I need a little bit of help. This file has the headers I am using to first get the header name and then get the value underneath it. I think deleting the columns was a good idea, but I think I got it using text processing instead. So far I have this: <ASCIIC:2:1:9><IVAR2:05:01:0><BTFBEG:001:000001:000001:C:\Documents and Settings\Pat\Desktop\Contact Files\Contact.txt><TMVAR2:09:10:01:000:000:><REP3:08:000008:000001:0001:1:01:T2><NMVAR:08:05:0:0000001:0:0000000><IFVAR2:4:01:8:T2T><BREAK><ENDIF><IVAR2:01:13:10:%T2%><TMVAR2:10:11:10:001:N01:><IVAR2:02:12:11><IVAR2:03:13:11:%T2%><TMVAR2:11:11:00:N02:N03:><TMVAR2:11:10:00:001:N01:><ENDREP><BTFEND><DIS:<TVAR2:02:01:blah blah blah blah Orders halb halb halb halb><DIS:<IVAR2:01:13:2:Orders><DIS:<NMVAR:02:01:1:0000001:2:0000001><DIS:<TMVAR2:11:02:00:001:N01:><DIS:<TMVAR2:04:02:00:000:000:> Just to let anyone know, there are only 2 lines in each text file. One is the header and the other is the information. I think I need to use text processing to single out the "information" line in the text file. How can I get the data underneath the column header? Should I do the same thing and use text processing to target the value. If so, how? Thanks! P
  18. OK, I might be onto something. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this? Am I going in the right direction? <ASCIIC:2:1:9><IVAR2:05:01:0><BTFBEG:001:000001:000001:C:\Documents and Settings\Pat\Desktop\Contact Files\Contact.txt><TMVAR2:09:10:01:000:000:><REP3:08:000008:000001:0001:1:01:T2><NMVAR:08:05:0:0000001:0:0000000><IFVAR2:4:01:8:T2T><BREAK><ENDIF><IVAR2:01:13:10:%T2%><TMVAR2:11:10:00:001:N01:><ENDREP><BTFEND><DIS:<TVAR2:02:01:blah blah blah blah Orders halb halb halb halb><DIS:<IVAR2:01:13:2:Orders><DIS:<NMVAR:02:01:1:0000001:2:0000001><DIS:<TMVAR2:11:02:00:001:N01:><DIS:<TMVAR2:04:02:00:000:000:>
  19. Can I get a hint as to how this would work? Thanks! -P
  20. Is there any information I can get to help me solve this riddle? I am looking to use either text file processing or ASCII, but I think ASCII might be out of the question because initially there are greater than 99 columns. I want to delete excessive columns BEFORE I use ASCII processing to make sure there are fewer than 99 columns, but I don't know how to delete columns and all respective data under those columns. Oh, by the way, the information is stored in a text file as tab separated values. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Pat
  21. Hi everyone! I am still trying to figure this out. How can I get the mouse to follow this icon? For some reason the icon moves on the menu bar and I need Macros to move the mouse to whatever location the pixels are underneath no matter where it goes. Can someone help please? Pat
  22. Stan, Thanks! Can you or anyone help with a little hint on how to do this? The icon is not in the tray. It is a menu bar icon. How do I target those pixel color(s) so if the icon moves that the mouse would follow it? All I need is some direction... Thanks! Pat
  23. I have a program that I can get the mouse to move to a menu bar and click on the icon to perform the action. What's weird is sometimes the icon is not in the same place in the menu bar! Sometimes another icon in the menu bar is there and it clicks on that icon instead. It's weird and I don't know why it does that. However, I want to try to understand "get pixel". The question is: If I use get pixel, will the mouse travel to the pixel instead of the location? This would make it more accurate because it wouldn't matter if the original icon has moved over a spot, but rather it would search for the pixel color instead. Is my understanding of pixels incorrect based on the logic above? Pat
  24. You are awesome Kevin! Thank You for the fast reply! Pat
  25. I have been looking in the forums and this is so simple, but I just don't know what it is. I want a macro to fire if the "if variable contains" has any value. If it has ANY value, proceed with the macro, if not do something else.... What do I put in the value box to symbolize any value. Thanks! Pat
