  1. Kevin, Help me to understand what you mean. When I copy a file from the desktop, I check out what it looks like in the clipboard. It never looks like the full address of the file!! It has some "curly q's" and the like, but never the full address of file. So what your saying is that the clipboard is not equipped to show me the full address let alone multiple files and their addresses if I multi-copy more than one file? Pat
  2. Cory, That's why I asked . Remember, I don't have any formal training with the computer. I am very grateful for your responses. I will try to do what you said. If I have any questions, I would appreciate your help! Thank You! Pat
  3. Hello Everyone! I might have mentioned this before in passing(see Right Click on file topic), but I am trying to get Clipboard to capture the names of multi-selected files and then perform some other actions to it. Say for example I am on my desktop and I would like to highlight three files and perform some action on it. First, I would select Ctrl+C(Or right click and then click "Copy"). Next I open clipboard, but I only see one of the items and NOT all three. Is there a way of getting all three onto the clipboard even if if meant repeating and appending them to each other? If so, how would the Macro Commands be structured assuming that the highlight/copy action could be one file, could be 100 files? Pat
  4. Paul, Thanks for the information. However, can clipmate auto paste it back into the clipboard without having to go to the "temp" folder to click it? I know exactly what you mean because you can see the list in clipmate and click on it, but what is a macro for but to automate these things. And shouldn't Clipmate be able to do a re-paste back onto the clipboard? Pat
  5. Hi Everyone, I was wondering if there was a way of auto renaming a file. I'll give an example. Suppose that I open up a brand new Word document. At the top, the title bar says "Document 1-Microsoft Word". I would like Macro Express to ask me whether or not to rename the file. Of course, I would like a Macro to recognize the title bar. If yes, pull some information elsewhere to name it, if no, stop the Macro all together. Can this all be done when the Word Document is open and not named yet? Where in the registry can this be done? I would assume this is the only way to do this or is there another way? Pat
  6. Paul, So what you are saying is that if I multi-select say.... three files on my desktop(hit copy or Ctrl +C), then click on clipboard to see all three files in the clipboard and they will be there? You're saying they actually are there if I did a repeat with folder in Macro Express to grab them from the clipboard as a single variable? As soon as I get home from Memorial Day weekend, I will try it. It just didn't seem that that was the case. I had to go in Clipmate and click the "highlighted one" to get it to paste it back into the clipboard. If that's the case, what the heck is it good for? My desire is for clipmate to auto paste it BACK INTO the clipboard after I multilselect files and hit copy OR Ctrl +C. I guess the regular clipboard doesn't show all that were copied or a Macro doesn't read all that is copied right? Pat
  7. Hello, I downloaded ClipMate and I love the functionality. I have a question about it though. I think this would work really great with Macro Express, but how can the actual Clipmate program repaste the information back into the clipboard? For example, if I were to highlight two files on the desktop and either Ctrl+C or right click to press "copy", I see it was captured by ClipMate, but it looks like it needs to be "clicked" in Clipmate to paste it in the clipboard. How can it be auto pasted back to the clipboard without it going to Clipmate? I am sorry if i had to paste this here and not Clipmate, but I tried to send an e-mail to the admin and nothing/no response. This would make Macro be very big for me and would open up a greater understanding of computers etc. One small baby step.... Pat
  8. Gentlemen, How would this work with a folder? Where would the command be placed in order to right click on a folder and THEN do the macro. Thanks! Pat
  9. Cory, That's exactly what I want to do with ME. A lot of my documents are scanned and Copernic/Google/Microsoft crawlers read through all that stuff if it was a saved file. Most of my stuff is scanned and I want to be able to use keywords to be able to better organize these files. I want to be able to copy or move files based on those key words. I am still not too 100% sure how to go about grabbing these keywords and then doing a repeat on them, but any suggestions would help! Thanks! Pat
  10. jOHNBOY, Thanks for the reply! However, what I am referring to is when you right-click a file(word, excel, pdf), go down to properties/click it, and then there is a tab(don't have one to look at now) that you can see "keywords" that you can add additional keywords to help explain the file and what it's about. How can I gather up all these keyowrds and perform a macro on them? Pat
  11. How can we use Macro Express to perform macro operations based on Keywords located by right-clicking on the file? If I wanted to have a macro search the keywords, how can I do that? Thanks! Pat
  12. Thank you Kevin, I put %T1% into the field for the attachments that I chose in "choose attachments now" and I tested one for myself and sent it to my own address and no attachments were attached. I used the macro Cory built and then added %T1% to that area "choose attachments now". Also, is there a way of bringing in a complete list(for example from Outlook) into Macro Express's e-mail address book without having to type it again? Also, it appears that it doesn't show it as "sent" in Outllook(of which I have Yahoo) as the main recipient). Where is the history of it being sent? Pat
  13. Cory, When you come to Ohio(wright Patterson) let me know. Don't forget because I always wanted to go there, but never did. I had buddies at Dayton U years ago, but never went to WP AFB. Now I have one more thing that is unclear. If I had the chance to do things over again, I would have learned more about computers and programming. I still have time:). Here is the question: When you say "If you take the bit at the end about writing to the registry out and instead take the string variable out of there and put in the attachment section of the email command it will work flawlessly. I send out about 1300 emails just yesterday using it. " What do you mean? I think you are referring to this line of code: <REGWSTR:1:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Insight Software Solutions\Macro Express\Miscellaneous\feedback><TBCLOSE:Instructions><VARSR:05> Gosh if I had more education on this.. I think you mean putting %T1% in the attachment line in Outlook, but can this be done more elegantly than having to open Outlook, open the attachment icon finding the contact in the address book etc. ? I would assume that Macro Express is there to help by simplifying. How can this be done simply? If you send 1300 e-mails out, there's got to be a way to just make this massively simple even a cavman can do it(Geico). Pat
  14. If you are ever in Cleveland, how does a party with a few kegs sound? Really, I appreciate your macro, but I don't understand where the attachment names go and then what do I do with them? Do I use the macro e-mail? What's next? A humbled and ignorant computer user, Pat
  15. Cory, I am interested in how this works. Can you give us a clue on the code? Pat
  16. Out of curiosity, I've been trying figure out whether I should just buy a program that synchcronizes data bidirectionally from one database program to another specifically from a Mortgage database to ACT!, but I don't know if it's worth the effort to do this with ME if it can be done anyway. Can this be done with ME?
  17. I am trying to print an unnamed document. What happens is the document is a tempate that has not been named yet and when the database opens the template the title bar has the words--"Document1-Microsoft Word". The only difference between the template and a blank instance of Word, is that the template shows the merged fields etc. How can I get this to automatically print with a command print switch using Macros? I tried everything. You can't put Microsoft Word in the Program Path/ Name because the database launches the instance and pops up the template. I don't know what to put there. I tried setting value to Window AND setting value to program assigning it to %T1%, putting %T1% in the Program Path/Name, but it seems to not work. How can I get Macro Express to work with silent print command line switch for Word: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\winword.exe" "G:\My Cabinets\Pat G\Inbox\Pat.doc" /mFilePrintDefault and have it work for an unnamed file? If I have to name the file, then how could I rename the Word file without have to go through File|Save As|Save file Name and have the clumsy process for saving a file work its way through? Also, I have a system figured out on how to rename the file with text type command. So that's not an issue. Is there an answer for either issue? Pat
  18. Cory, Here is what I have. It does not work and doesn't move the mouse. <GETCONTROLP:01:ACT7.EXE:006:WindowsForms10.Window.8.app5ACT! 2005 for Windows - act2005in2007WindowsForms10.Window.8.app5WindowsForms10.Window.8.app5Contact DetailWindowsForms10.Window.8.app5WindowsForms10.SysTabControl32.app5Window Forms10.Window.8.app5Application><CCLICK:F:01:0:T:> The name of the tab is "Application" as evidenced by the Direct Editor. However it doesn't move the mouse to the tab. If you click the 'tab' button on the keyboard all the way through the fields, once it gets to the tabs, it doesn't recognize them and passes over them to start at the first field and recognizes that. Is this a problem Yes, I would like to know how it could fire with a dropdown field also. If I use "GET CONTROL" and move the bullseye to the field, it recognizes it, but where to go from there? Pat
  19. cORY, Yes, this is exactly what I meant. Each field had the ability to launch an executable program. This means that since Macros can be playable, it can launch from any field provided there is something on the launch line to launch. In combination with the "Clippie"(of which I can get a mouse to click on the icon in the menu bar to get the contact's info into a clipboard and then save it as a text file, then process text file using "if....", then fire the macro). I want the tab to gain focus when info from the dropdown box is changed to cause the macro to do what it has to do. i want the tab to be focused and essentially clicked depending on if the text focuses the tab. I can have the tab focus or not focus depending on what the text says. I can have the macro fire or not fire depending on the text etc. etc. etc. I just don't know how to focus the tab other than have the mouse click it. I know how to do that. I don't like mouse clicks because if the window is smaller than the whole screen, it doesn't click in the right place. Pat
  20. Cory, I have ACT! as the datatbase. With ACT! there are tabs that are at the bottom that you can click on. When the tab is clicked, there are those little hypen lines that surround the tab. ACT! has addon companies that have additional products that you can buy. One of these is a program called "Clippie". What it does is put all fields in the clipboard. With the fields in the layout design, there is a launch line that you can run a playable macro. With the clipboard "Clippie", it puts fields in the clipboard, and I want it to fire a macro when the dropdown field changes. When it changes, it puts the text of the field in the clipboard. If there is a change, depending on what I have the macro do, it will possibly click on the tab to see the information in the tab. That's it! Thanks! Pat
  21. I am interested in having macro Express click on a tab in a database using the control feature to focus in on that tab in the database. It seems to be not working. Everytime this tab is clicked, I want the macro to do something. The "Get Control" feature is clicked in the activation window and the correct tab is named when the bullseye gathers the information. However, when going to the tab and performing a little macro using notpad and text type saying "Hi. This is Pat", nothing pops up. When I click the "Control On Top" radio button in the activation window of ME, it goes haywire and it doesn't care what tab I am at, it just keeps going and going when I click tab after tab, and it doesn't discriminate either. It doesn'f follow the rules to just focus on the specific tab I named in the bullseye to gather the control name. Is there something wrong? Pat
  22. Cory, I got it! Wow I feel useful now! Here is how it would work with Word... "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\winword.exe" "G:\My Cabinets\Pat G\Inbox\Pat.doc" /mFilePrintDefault This is exactly how it runs on the "RUN line and it works! So Now the variables have to be added if it needs to repeat through a folder etc.. I am going to see how this works with PowerPoint Excel etc. Someday I might be dangerous with computers! Pat
  23. Does this method also work with .doc, .xls etc? if I plug in -if variable %T3%=.doc, program launch winword.exe etc?
  24. Cory, Remember that I am a juvenile when it comes to computing. What is a batch file and how does it work with our scenario? I am slowly learning. The wheels churn a little at a time when it comes to computers. I am sorry. Pat
